Ai-Kon 2026 Poster

Ai-Kon is a Japanese anime and pop culture convention held annually in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the RBC Convention Centre. The objective of this project was to create new promotional material and artwork for the event, using themed graphics as consistent elements throughout each design. Creative considerations involved researching Ai-Kon's previous conventions to ensure that my work was different from past events and appealed to the target audience.

While this event has a major focus on anime, I wanted this artwork to acknowledge Japanese influences, blending a modern anime art style with traditional designs. The wardrobe for the mascots, for example, is inspired by Japanese kimonos worn during special occasions. The key message this work conveys is to share love, appreciation and acknowledgment for anime and Japanese culture.
